During Melanie and Andrew's wedding at the Carmichael estate, a lawyer arrives and halts the ceremony. Melanie confesses that she still loves Jake and cancels the wedding.
After he orders her out of his house, Melanie empties Jake's checking account, hoping to spur him into ending the marriage. Casting
The Judge—a 2014 film with a similar plot of a protagonist with a successful big city career drawn back to an old hometown. Jake's glassblowing shop was filmed at an old mill named Starr's Mill, in Fayette County, Georgia. Wynn's Pond in Sharpsburg, Georgia, is the location where Jake lands his plane. The historic homes shown at Melanie's return to Pigeon Creek were shot in Eufaula, Alabama.
On a beach in the fictional town of Pigeon Creek, Alabama, 10-year-olds Jake Perry and Melanie Smooter inspect the result of lightning striking sand. However, the show is set to make a return in fall and can be watched on TLC.

The California-born actor played Melanie's dad, Earl Smooter. Like many of his Sweet Home Alabama castmates, he later popped up in Grey's Anatomy, in addition to United States of Tara, 30 Minutes or Less and True Detective. News broke of the Tremors star's death in May 2022, though a cause was not identified at the time. Ward is survived by his wife, Marie-France Ward, and son Django.

Reality-dating series set in Alabama in which a single man or woman searches for love, choosing among a group of city participants and country contestants. The streets and storefronts of Crawfordville, Georgia, were used as the backdrop for the Catfish Festival and other downtown scenes.
Since early 2021, the Arkansas native has been dating model Rachel Mortenson. Sweet Home Alabama , the film soundtrack, includes thirteen songs by different artists. She was married to filmmaker Louis Malle from 1980 until his death in 1995. Since 2000, Bergen has been married to real estate developer Marshall Rose.
The problem is that she’s already married — to Jake Perry , the childhood sweetheart who was supposed to have divorced her years ago but never signed the papers. Melanie reconciles with her friends and learns that after she split with Jake, he had followed her to New York to win her back. Intimidated by the city and her success, he returned home to make something of himself first. She and Jake have a heart-to-heart, and Melanie realises why he never signed their divorce papers. She won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her 2005 portrayal of June Carter Cash in Walk the Line, and in 2017 took home an Emmy for executive producing HBO's Big Little Lies. In 2018, she authored the book Whiskey in a Teacup, and the following year, she launched her new TV series The Morning Show on Apple TV+ with Jennifer Aniston.
